Overview

Created a full low-to-mid fidelity prototype for Emu Air in response to changing client constraints. Updated the project plan, reframed the design strategy and produced research-backed concepts focused on automated check-in, baggage tracking and streamlined airport experiences. Work included journey mapping, persona validation, concept iteration and a full usability testing plan.

What I did

  • Reframed the project to align with Emu Air’s cost pressures, reduced staffing and need for automation.

  • Updated the entire project plan including team roles, timelines and iteration cadence.

  • Validated and refined research insights, personas and the as-is journey map.

  • Designed multiple iterations of low-fidelity prototypes, expanding screens where needed to reflect a complete check-in flow.

  • Built mid-fidelity prototypes in Figma, adding hierarchy, structure and component consistency.

  • Created detailed as-is and to-be journey maps for both passengers and staff, including emotions, pain points and touchpoints.

  • Developed a full usability testing plan covering low-fi, mid-fi and high-fi testing across moderated, unmoderated and workshop formats.

  • Presented the WIP as a Project Lead update via a structured 3–5 minute video walkthrough.

Outcome

This project strengthened my capability to adjust design direction in a professional context, manage shifting constraints and prioritise decisions using research insights. It reinforced the importance of clear communication, disciplined iteration and designing with operational realities in mind. The work was assessed at a Distinction level for its structure and application of the digital design process.
